Understanding the impact of stigma on people with mental health conditions, challenging stereotypes, and the importance of language in reducing stigma.
Supportive Conversations
How to have a supportive conversation about mental health, using active listening skills, what to say and what not to say, and managing boundaries.
Signposting and Support
Knowing where to signpost people for professional help, understanding the role of GPs, IAPT services, crisis services, and voluntary sector organisations like Mind and Samaritans.
Mental Health and Safeguarding
The relationship between mental health and safeguarding children and adults, recognising when mental health concerns become safeguarding concerns, and the role of the DSL.
